Thing-a-day begins

One year ago, inspired by Thing-a-day, I created this blog and started my crafting and doll making in earnest. I have made and sold many Wish Dolls, Dream Star Dolls and Dream Dolls. I have made three Bead Head dolls, two of which are decorating new homes. Children are playing with my Either Way Dolls. I have learnt which type of craft fair works best, and raised my doll prices once. Plus I have given many gifts of things that I made to family and friends.

Now Thing-a-day has begun again. I am eager to see where this one month of relatively disciplined fun will take me, since there is always something waiting to be made around here.

Today I have been working to finish the second doll that I am entering in the Art Nouveau themed Denver Doll Contest. So today I am posting a taste of what one of the skirts looks like.

Blanket basket

Or so I intend to use what has turned out to be an immense crocheted basket made from at least 200 grocery sacks. Using double and single crochet and scorning a pattern, this is what the new basket looks like. Next to it, the last smaller but just as functional basket for comparison. The large one is roughly 18 inches high, and has a diameter of 22 inches.

Barbie Redux Doll

Here are some pictures, taken by my husband, of my Barbie Redux doll, "Winged Victory". The exhibit starts August 7th with a reception in the evening. I'll be taking along some of my lovely ginger bread cake. There will be a Barbie look alike dress up contest and a treasure hunt. Her head still moves. I figure you could really screw with someone's mind - every time they look at the statue she's looking in a different direction. Heh, heh, heh.
