Blanket basket

Or so I intend to use what has turned out to be an immense crocheted basket made from at least 200 grocery sacks. Using double and single crochet and scorning a pattern, this is what the new basket looks like. Next to it, the last smaller but just as functional basket for comparison. The large one is roughly 18 inches high, and has a diameter of 22 inches.

I have been making these as well, have a question for ya. Do you find the handles a bit "stretchy"? I know the plastic bags make the handles that way but it is more stretch than I would like, I am trying to think of a way to deal with it. Thoughts?

And I love your two bags.

Thanks, Pam
The handles that I have made are several rows wide. I don't find them particularly stretchy, although that might be because of my high tension.
When I crocheted a shoulder strap for a loom knitted bag of plastic bag yarn, I included kitchen twine for strength. Perhaps that would help reduce the stretchiness.
Also I planned on using these handles as shoulder straps on the blanket bag, so I made them longer than you might want.

Are you going to sell these at your Etsy store? I love them!
Selling them...well my current problem is the lack of raw materials. I have used up all the bags that I collected over the last couple of years, so now I am asking my neighbors for theirs. Next stop the recycling bins outside of stores.
I am finding the several baskets that I have now made - just finished another one with a single handle about 14 inches across - so extremely useful around the house and to tote stuff out that I am completely unwilling to part with any.
I'll have to make more and I will - but maybe not so huge which takes a long time and a lot of bags.
Are you making an order Ren?
