Cupid's Key Art Doll in Spring colors - $45.00

Image
I love the pretty pastel colors of this 8.5 inch art doll. Her body is a quilter's cotton with an old gold wavy print. I hand colored the aqua petals for her skirts and of course beautiful beads, sequins and colored buttons adorn her. When I painted her face, I added a light blue makeup to help her blue eyes pop. She's quite thoughtful - perhaps she's watching out for Cupid's arrow. She... Click Here to Visit My Etsy Shop!

In a Blue treasury

Smash type art journal

Image
Keep watch for my next article on Natural Life Magazine's website . It's how to make an art journal or "smash book" - a new/old journal practice that includes adding ephemera, clippings, photos and notes about....whatever - your life, your day, your plans, your to do list, your deep thoughts. I've never been very assiduous about keeping diaries. I enjoy blogging however. And I think I'm going to enjoy keeping a smash journal, especially since I've made it myself (using ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever ) with plenty of papers that I like to look at. I've used a combination of scrapbooking papers, old magazines, photocopies of vintage papers that another artist sent me, and some very pretty illustrations from a Smithsonian calendar from a few years ago, along with some other bits and pieces. I added assorted embellishments - some rub-ons, stamps and a few stickers. My challenge is to just go over the papers with my pens, markers and images.

Home made decorative paper tape

Image
I love the printed washi tapes, but I can't afford 'em. Oh but I have some plain masking tape. Hmmmm. I laid some strips of the masking tape (in two colors) along some release paper left over from stickers. I tend to keep these in order to make home made glue dots with my Best Glue Ever . Then, for good measure, I pre-treated with a light dusting of the Perfect Crafting Pouch to make the ink cling. I clustered a bunch of tiny cling stamps ( Just Rite Stamps ) together and stamped once with brown archival dye ink from Colorbox . Then I stamped again with another detailed scroll type of stamp in black dye ink. What...wait...am I done? Already? Why, yes, yes I am. And here are the easiest chipboard tags ever, because I had these chipboard and corrugated card shapes already. Inked, taped, stamped, a single jewel placed with my Embellie Gellie , some yarn. Literally 45 minutes, and only so long because I stopped to take photos.

Trying something to see how this works. I have a Survey Monkey Survey about hand made cards. Since the blog link fails to work, please go to my Face book page and scroll down to the survey link there. There are only 6 questions.
