Summer comes early with my dolls



Here are my two latest art dolls. I think that these are pretty close to being my favorites so far. In addition to using my new wavy edge paper beads, I have tried a new technique of varnishing the faces once they are painted. The idea is to offer greater protection against the remote possibility of smudges or moisture - so now you can go ahead and give this doll a kiss on her cheek.

Or so I intend to use what has turned out to be an immense crocheted basket made from at least 200 grocery sacks. Using double and single crochet and scorning a pattern, this is what the new basket looks like. Next to it, the last smaller but just as functional basket for comparison. The large one is roughly 18 inches high, and has a diameter of 22 inches.

Barbie Redux Doll

Here are some pictures, taken by my husband, of my Barbie Redux doll, "Winged Victory". The exhibit starts August 7th with a reception in the evening. I'll be taking along some of my lovely ginger bread cake. There will be a Barbie look alike dress up contest and a treasure hunt. Her head still moves. I figure you could really screw with someone's mind - every time they look at the statue she's looking in a different direction. Heh, heh, heh.
