Go Green quilting challenge

This is my first art quilt, an entrant in a challenge at Quilting Arts Magazine - splendid bi-monthly inspiration. Here's hoping it makes the cut for publication. I call it "Eyes of the Sea." Five inches square, made from paper, cotton, felt, several different kinds of mesh bags from produce, an old t-shirt, yarns, beads and sequins, and paper beads. The batting is foam packaging material. Jayn helped. She made the "bubbles" using a fat straw and a hot glue gun. The base looked like this before embellishment.

Or so I intend to use what has turned out to be an immense crocheted basket made from at least 200 grocery sacks. Using double and single crochet and scorning a pattern, this is what the new basket looks like. Next to it, the last smaller but just as functional basket for comparison. The large one is roughly 18 inches high, and has a diameter of 22 inches.

Barbie Redux Doll

Here are some pictures, taken by my husband, of my Barbie Redux doll, "Winged Victory". The exhibit starts August 7th with a reception in the evening. I'll be taking along some of my lovely ginger bread cake. There will be a Barbie look alike dress up contest and a treasure hunt. Her head still moves. I figure you could really screw with someone's mind - every time they look at the statue she's looking in a different direction. Heh, heh, heh.
